After 9 months of learning, I passed my driving test! π I took my test yesterday morning and I’m still trying to process it all, I still can’t believe it!
When me and my driving instructor arrived at the test center, I walked straight into the door (I know how to make an entrance π!) I sat in the corner of the room awkwardly and waited with everyone else for the examiners to arrived.Β I was nervous and extremely tired as I hadn’t slept very well due to the test. I had failed my mock test a couple of days before and knew not everybody passed first time, So I wasn’t building my hopes up on something that might not happen.
When my examiner arrived, we jumped straight into the test! She asked me a few questions before my drive, which ended up being super easy. As soon as she had finished the questions, I started the engine and set off!
After a couple of minutes driving along a straight road I came up to a roundabout and was asked to take the first exit. I approached the the roundabout very carefully and took my time looking.Β As soon as I got on I had to break suddenly as a car cut across without giving me any warning.
Half of the car was on the roundabout and was sat in a dangerous place. The word ‘failed’ popped into my brain. I felt sad as my test had only just began and I had messed it up already. I should of noticed the other car. I managed to safely exit the roundabout and go the route I was told to follow. I then told myself that it was ok, What happened, happened. Just carry on and take it as an experience and learn from it.
After thirty minutes had gone I was told to drive back to the test center. As I was getting closer a bus came out of the bus depo so I decided to give way (as I wasn’t going to argue with a bus!π) As the bus got closer I recognised the driver, it was the same driver that picked me up and took me to work! I told the examiner I recognised him and we both thought it was quite funny.
I parked up outside the test center and waited to hear the word I had been dreading. I knew it would be ok if I failed as I could always do it again, nobodies perfect. The examinerΒ was quiet for most of the journey, sheΒ scribbled away on her clipboard as I stared out of the window.
“That bus drivers going to miss you.” She said. I looked at her trying to process what she meant.
“I’m happy to say you have passed.”
I burst into tears and told her I couldn’t have passed. My driving instructor came out, opened the door on my side and gave me a hug (and a tissueπ).
The examiner explained that I hadn’t failed because I had stopped and reacted to the situation calmly and sensibly. But if I had carried on and not stopped, I would of failed. She also told me that I only got two minors (which made me cry even more with happiness!π)
I can’t believe that it’s all over now.Β I still can’t believe I passed first time!Β It’s going to be weird not getting picked up every Saturday morning at 8:30 to do a lesson and it’s going to be even weirder owning a car! I just can’t believe that something that I have wanted and worked towards for the last two years has ended! Now I’ve passed, the learning properly begins!
If theres something you want to achieve, do it. Doesn’t matter how many times you try, you will get there in the end. Just keep believing and anything is possible! π
See you soon!
Georgina X
(P.S once I’ve got a car, I advise you all to stay off the roads for your own safety!)
Congratulations!!! This is amazing and I’m so happy for you! π This motivates me so much to keep learning how to drive as it proves hard work will get you to where you want to be πππ

Congratulations!!!! That is such an amazing accomplishment! I still don’t have my License and I’m afraid to drive again because of a horrible accident but you’ve encouraged me to know that it’s okay when I do get ready if I have to practice and try so many times before getting it right.β¨

Thank you! π There were times when I thought about giving up due to certain situations, just take it in your own time and don’t rush. Do it when you feel ready π
